What's Flash?
Flash is animation software that produces incredibly small file sizes for the amount of movement. Though Flash can be visually stunning, it's not appropriate for all applications. Remember when designing for the web it's imperative that you know who your audience will be. Not everyone has the Flash plug-in even though it's free and has been bundled with most major browsers for years. The fact is, Flash keeps coming out with new, updated versions requiring the user to update the plug-in. Now, for those of us who are on the web constantly, it's merely a few seconds out of our life. The reality is that not everyone stays updated. Therefore, to use Flash means you are eliminating a small percentage of folks who do not keep their plug-ins current. If you're a design firm, so be it. If your focus is ecommerce, you may want to think about it. Get the Flash Plug-in
